Authorities in Cameroon’s South West Region have announced a significant series of public investment projects aimed at revitalizing infrastructure in the Alou Sub-Division. The initiatives, spanning water sanitation, education, and transport, represent a multi-year effort to stabilize and develop the Lebialem Division.
The Water Crisis Addressed Central to the development plan is the rehabilitation of regional water schemes. On June 23, 2025, the Regional Council attributed two critical lots: the Ndungated Water Project was awarded to FUODEM ENT, while the Mbegle Water Project will be handled by ETS AZOLEZI & SONS ENTERPRISE. These follow a 20.0 million FCFA solar borehole project at Three Corners Nwassa signed in 2024.
Restoring Educational Facilities The Alou Municipality has prioritized the local school system. In April 2025 alone, four separate contracts were awarded to rehabilitate classroom blocks at G.S Menkia, G.S Atsombie, and G.S Kongameh. These works aim to provide safer learning environments for hundreds of students who have seen local infrastructure decline in recent years.
Connecting the Region Road rehabilitation remains a cornerstone of the regional strategy. A major 8KM stretch connecting Nwametaw-Nwangong and Alou-Mmockmbie was attributed to F AND N ENTERPRISE in June 2025. This infrastructure is vital for the transport of agricultural goods, which also received a boost through a recent supply of equipment to farmers in Atelefieh Ndungated and Njinawung.
INFRASTRUCTURE BLITZ: Inside the Multimillion-Dollar Transformation of Alou
ALOU, CAMEROON — A massive infrastructure overhaul is underway in Cameroon’s Lebialem Division. From solar-powered grids to essential bridge-building, the Alou Sub-Division is currently the site of an aggressive development push designed to modernize one of the South West Region’s key agricultural hubs.
Major investment: Over 250 million FCFA in active and completed projects.
Connectivity: 15KM "critical point" road repairs linking Bafou to Mbellenka.
Health & Power: New maternity blocks and solar street lighting installations.
Powering the Future The energy landscape is changing. In May 2024, SUCCESS CONSTRUCTION SARL completed a 26.0 million FCFA extension of the grid from Kongho to Mankang. By April 2025, the municipality moved to the next phase: a new extension from Mveh to Nchengallah, alongside the installation of solar street lamps in Anya-Lewoh.
