Yaoundé, January 31, 2026 — The Lebang Cultural and Development Organization (LECUDO) has taken decisive steps to reshape its future, adopting a sweeping set of resolutions that address leadership accountability, internal unity, community development, youth empowerment, and cultural revival.

Meeting in Yaoundé for its 2026 General Assembly, delegates approved measures aimed at restoring trust, strengthening oversight of development projects, and repositioning LECUDO as a more responsive and transparent institution for the Lebang people.

Tough Stance on Accountability and Governance

In a strong signal of zero tolerance for misconduct, the General Assembly resolved to initiate criminal prosecution against delinquent contractors operating in Lebang, marking a significant shift toward enforcing accountability in development projects.

To reinforce oversight at the grassroots, each Village Development Association is now required to nominate two contract monitoring agents, who will be trained and deployed to supervise projects within their communities.

The Assembly also formally expelled and excommunicated Nkem-Nkengasong Henry of Limbe from all LECUDO activities, whether as a benefactor or contributor, citing disciplinary grounds.

Addressing Internal Disputes and Institutional Reforms

Delegates mandated the Central Executive Bureau to continue dialogue aimed at resolving the long-standing dispute over the management of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College, Fontem, involving alumni, the Lebang community, and the Diocese of Mamfe.

In the same spirit of reconciliation, LECUDO-General and LECUDO-USA were directed to engage in dialogue to resolve their misunderstandings and restore unity within the organization’s international structure.

The Assembly also adopted a consolidated revised draft Constitution of LECUDO, with the exception of Article 29 on the Lebang Sovereign Fund for Strategic Development, which will undergo further revision.

Women and Youth Take Center Stage

A newly appointed interim leadership body of three eminent women has been tasked with revamping the activities of LEBANG WASSO, reinforcing women’s leadership within the organization. The team, drawn from Limbe, Yaoundé, and Buea, will report on its progress at the next General Assembly.

Youth empowerment featured prominently as well. A three-member youth team, led by Mr. Tanyinkenju Njifua of Buea, was commissioned to activate the creation and functioning of LEBANG YASSO, with a mandate to report back to the General Assembly in Buea.

Focus on Post-Crisis Reconstruction

Recognizing the ongoing housing challenges in Lebang, the Assembly instituted a high-level commission led by HRH Mafua Ngolefeh Dr. Acha Diane Morfaw to engage directly with the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Territorial Administration. The commission is charged with finding solutions to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of affected homes.

Culture, Continuity, and Leadership Confidence

The General Assembly announced that Azi Fontem will host a Cultural Week from December 15 to 20, 2026, reaffirming LECUDO’s commitment to cultural preservation and community identity.

Delegates also fixed the next General Assembly for Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Buea, and passed a formal vote of commendation for the Central Executive Bureau of LECUDO-General for what was described as work well done.

A Defining Moment for LECUDO

Taken together, the resolutions adopted in Yaoundé point to a defining moment for LECUDO — one marked by firmer governance, renewed internal dialogue, stronger community oversight, and a clear effort to place women, youth, and culture at the heart of Lebang’s development agenda.
