The LECDA-USA Project Committee approved eight community development projects for the 2026 Project Cycle following a detailed review of applications submitted by Fondoms in Lebialem and subsequent validation by the Board of Trustees (BOT).

Out of the seventeen Fondoms in Lebialem, eight submitted project proposals for consideration. All eight applications were approved, with each Fondom allocated USD 4,000 to implement priority projects targeting education, water supply, renewable energy, and community infrastructure.

Funding Disbursement Structure

To ensure transparency and effective project execution, LECDA-USA adopted a phased disbursement mechanism as outlined below:

Disbursement Phase

Amount (USD)

Project commencement

3,000

Upon verified completion

1,000

The organization stated that the final tranche was released only after project completion and submission of all required accountability and verification documents.

Implementation and Partnership Strategy

LECDA-USA implemented projects whose scope fell within the approved funding limit directly, working in collaboration with the beneficiary Fondoms. For projects whose total cost exceeded USD 4,000, the organization applied a partnership implementation model, jointly mobilizing additional resources with Fondoms and other stakeholders to ensure full delivery.

This approach, according to the organization, strengthened community ownership and improved the sustainability of development outcomes.

Policy Direction on Fondom Participation

LECDA-USA announced that the 2026 Project Cycle marked the final opportunity for Fondoms that were not actively engaged in the organization’s activities to benefit from project funding.

Future funding opportunities would be limited to Fondoms demonstrating active participation, including compliance with membership obligations, engagement in LECDA-USA programs, and sustained collaboration with the organization’s leadership structures. The policy shift was aimed at promoting accountability, fairness, and institutional growth.

Call for Increased Engagement

The organization urged non-participating Fondoms to mobilize their diaspora communities and integrate fully into LECDA-USA’s activities in preparation for future project cycles. Increased participation, LECDA-USA noted, would strengthen the collective financial base and enable the funding of larger and more impactful development projects across Lebialem.

LECDA-USA congratulated the eight approved Fondoms and expressed confidence in the successful implementation and positive community impact of the approved projects.
